So some of us are getting back to normal ( the new normal) & we have entered Phase 2 of the reopening of Ireland. Throughout this pandemic, I think we all can see how tough it has been on small businesses all around the country. It is important to remember though that for some, the struggle is still very present. They are not yet out of the woods and now more than ever, need our support.

With that in mind, and with Father’s Day just around the corner, I have put together a list of gift ideas that will not only be a little bit special for the Dads in our lives, but will hopefully encourage us to support local.

A Bakery Basket. A really nice idea is to put together a basket of his favourites from the local bakery. Whether it is a freshly baked loaf of brown bread or a box full of chocolate eclairs, this thoughtful gift is an easy way to keep him sweet!

Pick out a Creation from Homebird.ie. A husband & Wife Team who create beautifully designed artworks & greeting cards with an Irish twist. If your Dad enjoys Sports, Films or likes to collect County memorabilia, you will be sure to find something here for him to hang proudly on the wall.

A Skincare Treat! (Gender Neutral) - Botanica International are an Irish based natural skincare company and they currently have put together a set of Cleansing Wash, Herbal Cream & Eternal Youth Cream. All for approximately €50. Having used all of these products myself, I can highly recommend!

Grooming. It has been a long few weeks in lockdown and no doubt there have been many new 'Lockdown Haircuts' leaving our Dad’s looking a little, well…. different?!

Why not contact his local Barbers and purchase a gift voucher for a fresh haircut & maybe a hot shave too? While they may still be closed to the public, by purchasing vouchers, you are supporting them when they need it most and it gives your Dad something to look forward to!

Tee Shirt / Sweater. Due South Clothing in Dublin began in 2016 with all of their products being designed and printed in Ireland. They proudly promote themselves as being “Ethical, Sustainable & Irish”. All of their designs are “drawn by hand, and made up of everything from the rugged Irish Coastlines and rolling green hills, to the cities steeped in history”. While the designs may be minimalist, they are very eye-catching! They also have an offer on of 2 Tees for €50 #bargain.

Manly Stuff is a business based in Skerries, Dublin and has a wide range of gifts that any man would be delighted to receive. They stock luxury products to include watches, safety razors, pocket squares and other gift ideas, all at affordable prices! A one stop shop perhaps???

Personalized Chopping Board from Make It With Words. This Dublin based husband and wife duo have an array of lovely gifts on their website. However, these personalized chopping boards stand out and are a perfect, unique gift if your father is the ‘Jamie Oliver’ of the household! Prices start at just €18.75.

Buy him a pint! While the pubs have yet to reopen, you can be pretty sure that if your Dad is a ‘pint loving Pops’, he will be on the starting block when they do. Why not be a step ahead and pre-pay that first round in the local?… it will taste all the better if you do!

I hope you can find something in this list that your Dad will enjoy for the unconventional Father’s Day of 2020!

Thank you for reading, chat soon,
